It was a huge day for the first store sale for Spring with over 4000 cattle on offer following weeks of rain affected yardings. There was some very good quality including lines from the west, the Hunter and the local area.
It was fourth time lucky for Roger McDowell, Pilliga who finally managed to get his steers to Tamworth following successive weeks of rain. 96 Yamburgan blood, Shorthorn steers sold to $1520 and averaged $1455.
Other western cattle included 150 mixed sex weaners sold by Elders on account Denison Partnership. The 6-7 month old calves by Noonee Angus bulls were described by agent, Nathan McConnell as ‘renowned cattle.” The steers sold to $1400 and the heifers to $1180. Elders also sold 108 Angus x weaners on account Lord to $1810.
188 Angus and Angus x weaners sold by Nutrien on account Romani Pastoral Co sold to $980 for 37 heifers and 149 steers sold to $1585.
Davidson Cameron topped the weaners with weaned Angus steers selling to $1880. Yearling steers sold to $1990 for Angus steers sold by Purtle Plevey.
Despite "not a lot of depth in the buying group" the heifer market was also very strong. Yearling heifers sold to $1690 for Hereford x heifers sold by Purtle Plevey and the weaners sold to $1460. Limited cows and calves sold to $3025 and PTIC sold to $2200.
