Pike family set saleyard record
Tom, Archie and Craig Pike with their record breaking pen of lambs
Monday 14th July
With only a few lambs left to sell before they’re out of sheep, it’s only fitting that the Pike family smashed the existing record for lambs in Tamworth today. Their magnificent, 80-90 kg lambs off the crop made $420 through Ian Morgan Livestock and were described by buyers as the some of heaviest – and best - lambs they’ve ever seen in Tamworth. Other long-term vendors also benefited from the strong market with Robert Carey saying the $378 he received for his 70-82kg lambs was a personal best. Wahnica Partnership also cracked $400 with their lambs making $402. The National Livestock Reporting Service said that trends were dearer for the most part for both lambs and sheep.
